Our proposal has choose to break the visitor centre down into small, manageable units planned around the existing bungalow, and making the most of the natural grounds in between. Visitors will follow tree-lined footpaths to the gateway, a stacked timber wall open onto a room-sized viewing deck designed as a window on the lake. From there, the Nature and Wellbeing Centre unfolds as a series of ‘screens’, gradually drawing one closer and closer to the stunning views of the reserve enjoyed from the neighbouring rooms of exhibitions, studio, and public café. Two semi-landscaped courtyards offer easily accessible outdoor areas for play, or catering.
